ABOUT US

Foothills Accountability Association (FAA) was established in 1996 by a group of Christian homeschooling families. Their mission was to provide 3rd Option Accountability under SC statute 59-65-47 while cultivating an environment of support and guidance.

Today, FAA is still operated by a group of caring volunteers who believe that loving families are the seat of true education. All of our volunteers are currently homeschooling or have already graduated their children. Being 'in the trenches' ourselves, we are in a unique position to understand the joys and challenges of educating our children at home, provide support and encouragement, and assist with curriculum choices and college guidance. We believe the homeschooling parent is the chief authority regarding what is best for their children, and support curriculum choice and a wide range of educational philosophies in keeping with our overarching goal: to support the homeschooling family in the challenge of raising godly children who are equipped to for their future and to every good work they are called to do.

We believe in the covenant we make with one another: to be accountable to God and each other, to fulfill our homeschooling responsibilities as required by law, and to represent the homeschooling community in an honorable, positive and appropriate manner, that uplifts and benefits all homeschoolers.

Due to our group’s policy of FACE to FACE accountability and support, We are blessed to serve South Carolina homeschoolers living in Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, and Anderson counties. However, ANY South Carolina homeschooler who wishes to join our group and travel for the required checkoff meetings is very welcome!

You are NOT alone in your homeschooling journey--WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!!!

We are blessed to have volunteers with various skill sets and expertise because this allows us to best minister to you. We know what it is like to be on the front lines as a homeschooling parent.

Our organization offers more than just bi-annual checkoffs. We want to show YOU that with dedication and the right support, encouragement, curriculum assistance, and college guidance, YOU CAN give your child the BEST education possible!

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH

HELPING HANDS ARE NEEDED

As our organization grows, so does our need for volunteers. We would love for you to become part of our team. Your unique God-given gifts and abilities are needed to encourage homeschool families. All volunteers will receive training to become a check-off mentor. More volunteers mean:

  • Shorter Waiting Times at Checkoff Meetings
  • Shared Responsibility - so the load doesn’t fall on any one person.
  • More diverse experiences are shared within the group
  • A better ability to minister to our members

Volunteers are needed for a minimum of one day per semester or at most, 2-3 days at Checkoff. We encourage you to pray about it and reach out to Kim Williams for more information. Your efforts are valued and will be welcomed with open arms.
