With over two dozen 3rd Option groups statewide, and some that define “accountability” as : “send in your fee and an attendance sheet once a year"
WHY ON EARTH SHOULD I SIGN UP WITH AN ACCOUNTABILITY GROUP THAT REQUIRES FACE-TO-FACE CHECKOFF MEETINGS?!?
If you are really doing your research before you begin homeschooling, you need to ask yourself this question.
WHAT IS ACCOUNTABILITY ANYWAY?
***************************************************************************************************
Exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrew 3:13
Exhort means: to admonish, counsel, entreat, persuade, urge, encourage
Mutual Accountability: being answerable to another person, by being honest with them and expecting them to be honest with you. As Adminstrator of Foothills and I homeschooling mom of 7 children, I have experienced exhortation FIRSTHAND.
EVERYONE needs accountability. It is hard enough to ALWAYS be honest with ourselves. It HELPS to have someone else to ask those hard questions we are afraid of asking ourselves.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17
To make it easier, I’ve listed the Pros and Cons of Face To Face Accountability, which I hope you will carefully consider. Taking on the sole responsibility of your child’s education is a SERIOUS matter, and one that you should not take lightly. You should also not take your accountability lightly.

Biblical Reasons for Accountability
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished. Ecclesiastes 4:13
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Romans 13:1-7 (emphasis mine)
“From the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:16
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. Romans 15:14
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 1 Corinthians 10:23
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16
